There is a good news for people dreaming of building a new house in rural areas. Actually, Modi government has started a scheme. Under which Rs 1.20 lakh will be given to build a new house.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi government has started many schemes to fulfill people’s dream of owning their own house. The most prominent of which is- Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Rural. This scheme was started by the Modi government on April 1 in the year 2016. Under this scheme, a target has been set to construct 2.95 crore houses and till now the government has completed the construction of 2.50 crore houses. According to the information given by the Modi government, the target of construction of 2.95 crore pucca houses will be achieved by the stipulated deadline of March 31, 2024.

Let us tell you that the Central Government provides financial assistance to the people eligible for this scheme in rural areas to build permanent houses. According to the official website, if the house under the scheme is built in the plains, then the amount approved by the government is Rs 1.2 lakh and if the house is built in the hilly areas, it is Rs 1.3 lakh.

Apart from this, along with financial assistance, the beneficiary is also given 90 days of employment under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA). Under the scheme, an additional Rs 12000 is offered for toilet construction. During the last five years i.e. from the financial year 2018-19 to 2022-23, the amount of central share released to the states and union territories for the construction of houses under this scheme was about Rs 1,60,853.38 crore.

Let us tell you that under PMAY-G, central assistance is released directly to the state/union territory by considering the state/union territory as one unit. The work of releasing these funds to the beneficiaries in different districts/blocks/gram panchayats is done by the respective state government/union territory administration.
