How to apply for 5 kg lpg connection ?

Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, door-to-door delivery of LPG cylinders was done. If gas connections were distributed free of cost to the poor, now the Ujjwala scheme has also been opened for ration card holders. The government is giving connections, but in between, a voice arises that how the poor should get expensive cylinder refills. The government has also found a solution for this. The government has opened the option of 5 kg gas cylinders for the poor.

Now the poor do not need a large 14.2 kg gas cylinder. If they want, they will also get a cylinder of 5 kg. On this also the subsidy given by the government will continue. The subsidy amount will be deposited directly in the bank account of people taking 5 kg cylinder through Direct Benefit Transfer ie DBT.

Ujjwala customers do not need to take new connections for this. They have been given the right to choose the option of 5 kg on the old connection itself. The ration card holders for whom the Ujjwala scheme has been started can also opt for a five kg cylinder.

The reason for bringing the option of 5 kg cylinder was that the government gave free gas connections to more than six crore BPL card holders under the Ujjwala scheme. Initially people showed enthusiasm but gradually the consumption started coming down. Voices started rising. The opposition said that the government has given cylinders but no facility is being given in getting refills.

As refills are expensive, people have stopped using LPG and started cooking on traditional wood chulhas. People benefiting from the Ujjwala scheme should get gas filled every month, so a cheap 5 kg LPG cylinder was launched. Along with this, the government has also increased the number of subsidized cylinders of 5 kg. People can get 5 kg cylinder refilled with subsidy 34 times in a year. So now let’s also know about what you have to do for a five kg cylinder.

Take a five kg cylinder like this
The poor, who were given LPG cylinders of 14.2 kg till now, can also book cylinders of 5 kg.
They should not do anything separately for it. They have to dial the same number on which they used to book big cylinders.
There will also be an option of 5 kg. All you have to do is click on the 5 kg option. After doing OK, the cylinder will be booked.
The cylinder will reach your home within three days of booking. In areas where there is no home delivery facility, people will have to visit the agency.
People can also go to their agency and get the big cylinder replaced with a five kg cylinder. They can get it refilled whenever they want.
A five kg gas cylinder is currently being given for Rs 328. A subsidy of Rs 128 is provided on this.
After booking, you will have to pay Rs 328 but within a few days, 128 rupees of subsidy will be sent to your bank account.
This means that the government has reduced your burden by paying the rate of Rs 128 per gas cylinder.
34 cylinders of 5 kg can be booked in a year. Booking 34 cylinders means that the government will give subsidy till so many cylinders.
You will get the 35th cylinder of five kg at full rate. The government gives subsidy to consumers only on 12 cylinders in a year.
From the 13th cylinder, people have to pay the full price of gas. Accordingly, the government has directed to give three times the subsidized cylinder of five kg as compared to the bigger cylinder.
It has been announced for all the consumers that they can get the cylinder replaced by visiting their authorized agency.
Free connection to ration card holders also
The government had started the Ujjwala scheme for BPL card holders, people belonging to SC and ST. The government has achieved the target of Ujjwala scheme before the stipulated time. After distributing free LPG cylinders to more than six crore people, this scheme has also been opened for ration card holders.

LPG cylinders will also be distributed free of cost to ration card holders. The government has decided to provide free cylinders to eight crore ration card holders by 2020. The number of ration card holders across the country is 9.27 crore.

The government will spend Rs 4800 crore on distributing free cylinders. Provision for this has also been made in the budget. The government has set a target that by 2022, not a single family is left without an LPG connection. Ration card holders will also have the option to choose between big or small cylinder.

It is necessary for the ration card holder to have Aadhar card and bank account. By the way, most of the ration card holders have bank accounts. The subsidy received on the gas cylinder will be sent directly to their bank account. If the Aadhar card has not been made yet, then get it made immediately and get it linked with the ration card first. Only after that apply for Ujjwala Yojana.

These documents will be needed
