IMD Alert Today: Due to the simultaneous activation of several weather systems, the rainy season is going to continue till August 13. IMD has predicted heavy rains in India for the next few days. Light to moderate rain is expected over West and South India during next 5 days but light to heavy rain at isolated places very likely over Northwest India. On the other hand, the rain activity in Delhi will be very less, the weather will remain completely dry on August 7 and 8, while light drizzle can be seen from August 9 to 13. The same Himachal Pradesh, Jammu Kashmir, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Odisha There may also be light to moderate rain.

What does the Meteorological Department’s forecast say?
According to the weather forecasting agency Skymet, there is a cyclonic circulation over Bihar, due to which there is a possibility of rain. A cyclonic circulation is also seen over Gujarat and adjoining areas. Monsoon Trough is in its normal position, passing eastwards towards East Assam via Amritsar, Karnal, Meerut, Sultanpur, Patna, Malda, likely to move northwards in 2 days. The western end of the Monsoon Trough at mean sea level is running close to the foothills of the Himalayas and the eastern end is now passing through Gorakhpur, Muzaffarpur, Malda and from there moving eastwards towards Manipur. It is very likely to move north of its normal position over foothills of Himalayas during next 3-4 days.
