The India Meteorological Department has predicted moderate rain at one or two places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Kannur and Kasargod in the coming hours. Also, winds will blow at a speed of 50 kilometers per hour.

Rainfall Update: Rainfall was recorded in many parts of the country in the last 24 hours. Heavy to very heavy rainfall occurred in different areas till 8:30 am on Tuesday. Extremely heavy rain was observed at some places in Saurashtra and Kutch. Heavy to very heavy rainfall was also observed in coastal areas of Tamil Nadu. Rainfall was also seen in Karnataka, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Mizoram and other states. Thunderstorms were observed with stormy winds at a speed of 60-70 km per hour in Gujarat, Konkan, Maharashtra and other areas. According to the Meteorological Department, a low pressure area remains over southwest Bangladesh and Gangetic West Bengal, which will move in the west-north direction in the next 24 hours. There is also another low pressure area near Gujarat, which is going to move north.

Due to these weather activities, heavy to very heavy rains will occur in eastern and central India from 17 to 21 June. Also, there is a possibility of stormy winds at a speed of 50-60 km per hour. Very heavy rains are expected in West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand on 17 and 18 June. Heavy rains and strong winds are likely in Gujarat, Konkan, Goa and Maharashtra in western India from 17 to 23 June. Heavy to very heavy rains will occur in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and other areas in southern peninsular India on Tuesday-Wednesday. During this time, strong winds are expected to blow at a speed of 40-60 km per hour.

Northeast India will receive rain for the next 7 days

Heavy rains will continue in Northeast India for the next 7 days, with Meghalaya facing extremely heavy rainfall warning on June 18 and 19. Heavy rains and strong winds are expected in Uttarakhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan in northwestern India from June 17 to 23. The Meteorological Department has advised to be vigilant and take safety measures in all the affected areas. At the same time, monsoon-affected Kerala also faced serious challenges on Tuesday. Low-lying areas have been submerged on a large scale. People living in coastal areas are also facing problems due to high waves in the sea. Many families living in low-lying areas in various districts have been moved to relief camps. There are reports of heavy devastation in the southern coastal areas due to high waves in the sea and its water reaching the areas.
