The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather bulletin (IMD Weather Alert November 2025) for the next week, starting November 23, 2025. According to the Meteorological Department, the impact of a western disturbance is persisting in the northwestern regions, causing cold winds. A new low pressure area is forming in the Bay of Bengal, which will bring rain to South India. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in the South is changing. The low pressure in the Bay of Bengal may cause heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Kerala in the next 48 hours. The IMD has issued red and orange alerts (India Red Orange Alert), where 100-150 mm of rain is possible in 24 hours. Meanwhile, flooding is expected in Chennai and Kochi, with temperatures hovering around 25-28 degrees Celsius.
Fog wreaks havoc in North India
According to the Meteorological Department, North India is in the grip of cold and fog. Dense fog will prevail in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh for the next three days. The IMD has issued a red alert, with morning and evening visibility expected to drop below 50 meters. Temperatures will hover between 8-12 degrees Celsius, with the minimum temperature dropping to 4-6 degrees. Light snowfall is expected in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
Mixed weather in eastern and western regions: Cold in Bihar, sunshine in Maharashtra
According to the Meteorological Department, cold will increase in eastern India with light rain in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha. Temperatures will remain at 15-20 degrees Celsius, but humidity will make it feel humid. Western states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan will experience mostly dry weather. Light drizzle is possible in Mumbai, but temperatures will remain normal at 24-30 degrees. Desert areas of Rajasthan will experience sunshine during the day and chill at night.
Where did it rain last week, where was it cold?
Last week, from November 16 to 22, 2025, the heaviest rainfall occurred in South India. Heavy to very heavy rainfall was recorded in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema. Cities like Chennai, Kochi, and Trivandrum received 100 to 200 mm of rainfall, submerging roads and creating flood-like conditions. Light to moderate rainfall also continued throughout the week in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, while rainfall in North India was almost nonexistent. Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan remained completely dry. In central India, only western parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh experienced light showers on November 17-19, while the rest remained dry. Overall, the rain was confined to the south, while the north experienced only cold and fog.
