IMD Yellow Alert: Snowfall up to five inches in this area of Himachal, rain alert for two days

The temperature in the hilly areas of the state has dropped to zero or below.

Weather will change due to western disturbance

The Meteorological Department has predicted clear weather during the next 24 hours. After this, there will be a change in the weather due to the activation of western disturbance. Meteorological Center Shimla has predicted rain in the plains and central areas of the state and snowfall in the high mountain areas on May 4 and 5. During this period, yellow alert has also been issued at some places regarding storm and lightning. The weather will be clear on 6th and 7th May. In such a situation, rain and snowfall has been predicted for two days (May 4 and 5).

Three national highways and 44 roads closed due to snowfall

Vehicular movement has come to a standstill due to blockage of many roads due to snowfall in the higher areas of the state. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre, three national highways and 44 roads remained closed in the state till Thursday morning. 38 roads are closed in Lahaul-Spiti, three in Kullu, two in Chamba and one in Kangra. Two national highways in Lahaul-Spiti and one in Kullu are also blocked. Apart from this, there is power failure in nine in Lahaul-Spiti, six in Chamba and one in Kinnaur due to transformer failure.
