Important news for Jan Dhan account holders If this work is done then you will have to pay a fine

JanDhan Account: Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account Holders can impose a penalty if you transact more money than free limited transactions.

New Delhi: Jan Dhan account is provided by the Central Government to the people of the country. If you have also opened a Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account under JanDhan Account then this is important news for you. Although it is a zero balance account, but yes if one thing is not taken care of then the account holders can be fined. Let us tell you which account holders can be fined and when.




Let us tell you that the bank does not recover the charge for zero balance, but if you transact more money than free limited transaction, then you can be fined. Banks are doing this with Basic Savings Bank Deposit Accounts (BSBDA) account holders.

How much will the fine be

If you have opened Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account (BSBDA) under Jan Dhan Yojana, then you can make monthly transactions only 4 times. For doing more transactions, you are fined by the bank. Explain that customers are fined Rs 20 per transaction and the special thing is that banks are also including UPI and digital transactions done in any way.

SBI and PNB made so much recovery

The country’s largest government bank charges Rs 17.70 as a charge on such accounts. SBI has recovered about Rs 300 crore from about 12 crore BSBDA account holders during 5 years from FY 2014-15 to 2019-20. At the same time, Punjab National Bank has recovered Rs 9.9 crore from 3.9 crore BSBD account holders during the same period.

A study by IIT Bombay has revealed that most banks, including State Bank of India, are making huge money from these accounts through penalty, service charge etc.

–  Life cover up to Rs 30,000, which is available on the eligibility conditions on the death of the beneficiary.

– Rupees debit card is given to the person opening the Jan Dhan account, from which he can withdraw money from the account or make a purchase.

–  It is easy to buy insurance, pension products through Jan Dhan account.

– If there is a Jan Dhan account, then accounts will be opened for pension in schemes like PM Kisan and Shramayogi Maandhan.

–  Money transfer facility across the country

–  Money comes directly into the account of the benefits of government schemes.

According to the latest data, the number of Jan Dhan accounts has crossed 42 crore. Of these, 33.23 crore in public sector banks, 7.52 crore in regional rural banks and 1.25 crore in private banks have been opened. The number of women in total Jan Dhan account holders is 23.27 crores.
