Direct tax can be paid all over the country except Shillong. This includes TDS, TCS, Income Tax, Corporation Tax, Dividend Distribution Tax, Security Transaction Tax, Hotel Receipt Tax, Estate Duty, Interest Tax, Wealth Tax, Expenditure Tax or Direct Tax and Gift Tax, Fringe Benefit Tax, Banking Cash Transaction Tax come. On the other hand, indirect tax is paid anywhere in the country and includes excise duty and service tax.

  1. First of all, the tax payer has to select the challan according to him on the NSDL site or portal.
  2. Enter the PAN/TAN/Assistance Code of the taxpayer as per his/her choice. As soon as it is informed, there will be online checking about the validity of these documents.
  3. If the PAN or TAN or Assess Code is valid, the taxpayer will be allowed to fill in the challan details. In this detail, you have to give the information of Accounting Head Code or Major Head Code. Under this you have to make payment. In this column, you have to fill the name and address written on PAN or TAN. Now select the bank from which to make the payment
  4. After filling all these details a confirmation screen will appear on the computer. If the taxpayer confirms the information given in the challan, then he has to go to the net banking of the bank from which the payment is to be made.
  5. Now here the taxpayer has to start internet banking and for this login ID and password will have to be entered. The login ID and password must have been received from the bank where your account is held, which will be used
  6. Taxpayer has to provide payment details and authorize for payment
  7. Immediately after the payment, a challan will be displayed on the display containing information such as CIN, payment details, name of the bank from which the e-payment has been made. This is called counterfoil which is proof that you have paid tax.
