Income Tax Payment: Big Update! E-pay tax service available through 25 banks, how to make payment, see process

Income Tax Payment: Income Tax Department has now introduced the facility of online tax submission. You can use this service with a total of 25 banks. See how to do this.

Income Tax Payment: Tax payers currently get the facility of online income tax submission. They get this facility through e-pay tax service. E-Pay Tax is a special service provided by the Income Tax Department of the country. Through this, taxpayers can pay their taxes courtesy of various channels including Net Banking, Debit Card, Over the Counter, NEFT and RTGS. The service can be availed through banks authorized by the Income Tax Department. Detailed information in this regard is given on the Income Tax Department website.

However, taxpayers have to follow certain steps to avail this service. To use e-Pay Tax, taxpayers must first create an account on the Income Tax Department’s e-filing portal. Once the account is created, taxpayers will be able to get a challan number for their tax payments. Taxpayers can then pay through any of the authorized channels using the invoice number.

The e-filing portal lists certain banks for paying taxes under the e-pay tax service. Banks in that list are-

How to make e-tax payment?

  • Go to e-filing portal of Income Tax Department.
  • Click on ‘E-Pay Tax’ tab.
  • Provide PAN number, mobile number and password.
  • Enter the invoice number to pay your taxes.
  • Enter the monetary amount to pay your tax.
  • Select your payment option or method.
  • By clicking on ‘Pay Tax’ option, complete the process.

According to experts, e-Pay Tax is a convenient and secure way to pay taxes. This prevents a taxpayer from standing in queues at tax collection centres. Taxpayers who use e-Pay Tax also have a receipt.
