Income Tax Return: Good News! ITR can be filled this way even after 31st December, check complete details immediately

New Delhi. The last date to file Income Tax Return is 31st December 2023. Apart from this, the last date for e-verification was also 31 December 2023.

If you have missed this date, you can still file the return without paying any penalty.

How to file ITR without penalty

For this, one can avoid penalty by going to the e-filing portal and apologizing. You can file returns without penalty by selecting Condonation of Delay on the e-filing portal. Let us know how to file Condonation of Delay.

How to File Condonation of Delay

  • You will have to log in to your account by going to the E-Filing Portal.
  • After this you will have to go to the services option on the home page. Here you have to select condolence request at the bottom.
  • Now you have to select the type of condolence request in condolence request.
  • After this you have to click on Delay in Submission of ITR.
  • Here you have to complete three steps.
  • In the first step you have to select ITR.
  • After this you have to give the reason why you have to file ITR late.
  • Now in the last step the condolence request has to be submitted.

These things will be needed

  • You should be registered on e-filing.
  • Your PAN number and bank account should be linked to each other.
  • Bank account must be verified.
  • After the request is submitted, you can file the tax return after getting the approval of the Income Tax Department.

How to fill ITR by paying penalty

  • First of all you have to go to the e-filing portal.
  • After this, you will have to go to ‘Quick Links’ and select the option of ‘e-pay tax’.
  • Now enter your PAN Card and mobile number and click on ‘Continue’.
  • Now on the new webpage you have to select assessment year 2023-24.
  • Now the penalty amount has to be entered. After this click on proceed.
  • Now on the payment page you can make payment through debit card, net banking, NEFT/RTGS or any other means.
