That means, if you are going to Nepal with a maximum of Rs 5000, then it should also have only notes of Rs 100 and below. Only then can you enter Nepal with it. The notification clearly mentions not keeping notes of restricted denomination and doing business within Nepal only in Nepali currency.

Nepal Rastra Bank Notification

In the notification issued by Nepal Rastra Bank, instructions have been issued to carry only Rs 5,000 in Indian currency while coming to Nepal from India. Which may include notes of Rs 100 or less. In this notification, it has also been said to warn Nepal Customs Office. In the notification, citizens of Nepal are allowed to bring cash up to Rs 25,000 to come to India. Due to medical reasons this amount can be Rs 50 thousand. Nepali citizens can avail similar facilities up to Rs 25 thousand from money changer.

There are old religious, spiritual, economic, social and political relations between India and Nepal. Due to which no visa or passport is required to travel between the two countries. People from the border areas of both the countries have been visiting each other and doing business. The situation is such that Nepali currency has been in circulation in the border Indian market and Indian currency has been in widespread circulation in the Nepali market.
