Indian Railway Rules: As the festival of Diwali approaches, people have started returning to their homes, due to which heavy crowds are being seen in trains. According to the rules of the Railways, keeping in mind the safety of the passengers, there is a strict ban on carrying flammable items like firecrackers and sparklers in the train. According to these rules, passengers cannot carry any kind of firecrackers in the train. If a passenger is found traveling with banned items, he may have to face action under Section 164 of the Railway Act. Under this, there can be a fine of Rs 1,000 or a sentence of up to three years, or both.

So if firecrackers and sparklers are available cheaply where you are living and you also intend to take them home for Diwali, then abandon your plan. If you are caught with banned items in the train, you can get into big trouble. Every time the Indian Railways also appeals to the passengers repeatedly not to travel with firecrackers.

Can be sentenced to 3 years

According to the rules of Indian Railways, if a passenger carries any of the prohibited items during the journey, action can be taken against him under Section 164 of the Railway Act. Under this section, a passenger can be fined Rs 1000 or sentenced to three years imprisonment or both. Since firecrackers come under the category of prohibited items, you will be liable for punishment if caught with these in the train.

Railways has banned carrying many such things in the train which can endanger the safety of rail passengers. These are such items which pose a risk of fire in the train, making the train dirty, causing inconvenience to passengers and causing the train to crash.

These items are prohibited

Stoves, gas cylinders, any kind of flammable chemicals, firecrackers, acid, smelly items, leather or wet skins, oil or grease brought in packages, items which may break or leak and cause damage to the items or passengers are prohibited during train travel. According to railway rules, passengers can carry up to 20 kg of ghee in the train, but the ghee should be packed properly in a tin box.
