Indian Railways: Fog expresses late flight, flight to USA missed, know what the consumer forum decided

The USA-based family claimed compensation at the Gwalior Consumer Forum for missing flights due to late century express. The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has rejected that claim. The forum said that due to fog, there is no shortage of service due to fog, because the delay was not due to any employee. Driving the train in fog too fast can not endanger the lives of other passengers, hence compensation cannot be given.

Shatabdi Express has been lying for about a quarter to two hours

Let us know that Prakash and Seema Sharma live in America. He had a flight from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport at 4 am on 22 December 2017 to fly to America. On 21 December 2017, he left for Delhi from Gwalior by Shatabdi Express. The Shatabdi Express was delayed about one hour and 45 minutes at Gwalior station. Asked in this regard at the station, it was told that the train will reach Delhi by an hour and 45 minutes late, but at three in the morning the train reached Delhi.

The family also took time to reach IGI Airport from Delhi station. Due to this, the flight to America was missed. In such a situation, the tickets that were booked on the flight to America became useless. Tickets for the second flight were found for 73 thousand rupees. The cost of staying in the hotel also came to 20 thousand rupees. The notice was given by Prahlada, a resident of Madhoganj, through Mukhtayarname, but no reply was given by the railway. After this, by presenting a claim in the Consumer Forum, Prakash and Seema Sharma sought compensation of Rs. Three lakh 47 thousand from the Railways.

Cannot endanger the lives of other passengers

North Central Railway responded to the notice of the forum. It was argued by the Railways that the train is run safely under the fog. This can not put the lives of other passengers at risk. Fog remains high in December, in which case the speed of the train cannot be increased. This complaint is not hearsay. The forum rejected the claim after hearing both sides. The case will also have to be borne by the complainant.
