PAN is a ten-digit unique alphanumeric number issued by the Income Tax Department and is issued in the form of a laminated plastic card.

People can note that no fee or charges are required for getting an instant PAN Card. Those who want to get an instant PAN Card can follow the steps mentioned below.

How to get instant PAN using this functionality?

1. Go to https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/ and click on the ‘Instant E-PAN’ option mentioned on the home page.

2. Click on ‘Get New e-PAN’.

3. Enter the Aadhaar Number.

4. Enter the OTP received on the mobile number linked with the Aadhaar Number.

5. Validate the Aadhaar details.

6. Validate Email-id.

7. Download the e-PAN.


You can know that e-PAN facility is for allotment of Instant PAN (on near-real time basis) for those applicants who possess a valid Aadhaar number. PAN is issued in PDF format to applicants, which is free of cost.

Instant PAN facility can be used by a person only if the following conditions are fulfilled:

1. He/she has never been allotted a PAN.

2. His/her mobile number is linked with his/her Aadhaar number.

3. His/her complete date of birth is available on the Aadhaar card.

4. He/she should not be a minor on the date of application for PAN.
