ITR: Big News! Income Tax Department introduced AIS, now your income will not be hidden, check details

New Delhi. ITR Portal News: Income tax payers can now view their annual statement of accounts or Annual Information Statement (AIS) for the year on the Income Tax Portal linked to Income Tax Return (ITR). If you are also going to file Income Tax Return (ITR), then definitely check your AIS.

This service of ITR Portal has been started recently. If the income tax payer feels that there is any deficiency in the details or it is someone else’s details or it needs to be changed, then he can give feedback about it both online and offline.

In AIS, the income tax payer will have information about the interest received from banks, investments made in mutual funds and stock market, earnings from them and dividends received from any other place. Income tax payer can download AIS. The Income Tax Department has advised to see the AIS before filing the Income Tax Return, so that you will be comfortable in filing ITR.

It has also been said by the Income Tax Department that the same details will appear in the AIS, which will be present with the Income Tax Department. Apart from this, the income tax payer has done any transaction, which is not visible in that statement, then the income tax payer can give his information through feedback.

View on ITR Portal

AIS can be accessed by going to the service section of the Income Tax e-filing portal. According to the Income Tax Department, after the feedback of the income tax payer, another AIS will appear on the portal. If the income tax payer has requested for a change in his AIS and due to some reason the change could not be done, then he can approach the Income Tax Department.

Form 26AS will remain separate

According to the Income Tax Department, Form 26AS will continue to be visible on the trace portal till the AIS service is fully operational. Form 26AS also contains details of income and significant expenses of the income tax payer. Form 26AS is your annual tax statement. You can remove 26AS from the Income Tax Department website with the help of your PAN number.
