ITR: Big News! The last date to file income tax return is December 31, so far 2 crore 38 lakh people have filled ITR,check details

The last date to file ITR for assessment year 2021-22 is December 31, 2021. Earlier, more than 2.38 crores have filed income tax returns for the assessment year 2021-22. The Income Tax Department has given this information by tweeting. The Income Tax Department has said that it has received over 2.38 crore Income Tax Returns (ITRs) for the assessment year 2021-22 on the e-filing portal. According to the Income Tax Department, more than 2.08 crore ITRs have been verified. Over 1.68 crore ITRs processed. And more than 64 lakh refunds have been issued.




According to CBDT, if an individual income tax payer files ITR after December 31, he will have to pay late fee and file late ITR. The Income Tax Department said in its tweet, if you have not filed ITR yet, then we request you to file your ITR on the e-filing portal. Earlier it was 31st July 2021, but now anyone can file ITR till 31st December 2021.

Documents required to file ITR

You should keep certain documents with you while filing the return. To ease the process of filing Income Tax Return (ITR), it is important to keep all the required documents with you. Most of the salaried taxpayers use the ITR-1 form and most of the information in it is pre-filled.

First update bank account, then file ITR

In the new e-filing portal also, the data in ITR-1 is pre-filled. However, keep in mind that the new tax filing portal is facing several technical issues, due to which you should check the details already filled in the ITR form. You cannot file ITR on the new income tax portal unless you update your bank account details. Once check whether the bank details are updated in the new portal or not. If not, then update the bank account, then file ITR, your work will be done easily.
