If you want to file ITR through the new website of Income Tax Portal, then first you have to register yourself. That is, without registration, you will not be able to file ITR through the new website. The deadline for filing income tax returns for the assessment year 2021-22 is December 31, 2021.

3- Gather all these necessary information before registering the e-mail id on the website of the Income Tax Department.
How to register
Step 1- First you go to www.incometax.gov.in.
Step 2- Click on Register on the new portal.
Step 3- Keep in mind that ‘Taxpayer’ is selected and not Others, after that enter your PAN number and click on Validate. If your PAN card will be inactive then ‘Error’ will come. But if everything is correct then click on ‘Individual Taxpayers’ to confirm. Click on ‘Continue’ on showing PAN Validate successful.
Step 4- After this, you have to write some important information related to yourself like name, date of birth, address carefully and click on Continue.
Step 5- After this, you will have to update the necessary information like mobile number, e-mail.
Step 6- After this OTP will be sent to your mobile number and e-mail. Keep in mind that it will be active only for 15 minutes. After filling the OTP carefully, click on Continue.
Step 7- You have to verify all your information, check each information carefully and click on confirm if everything is correct.
Step 8- After this you enter your preferred password. Keep in mind that the password should be at least 8 words and maximum 14 words. Always make the password strong so that no one else can unlock your login. Apart from this, you will also have to enter a 25-word Personalized message every time. Through this, you will be able to know that you are logging on to the right website. After writing the message, you will be registered on the new website of Income Tax Department as soon as you click REGISTER.
