Walmart To Slash Jobs: After tech, now jobs in e-commerce and retail are also in danger. Some time ago, Microsoft, Google and Amazon laid off their staff. Now in this episode, Flipkart’s parent Walmart has given a big shock to the employees with its news. The American retail giant is planning to lay off 1500 employees as part of its reorganization effort. Reuters, citing internal information of the company, has said that its aim is to run the work more smoothly.

This blow is going to fall on the staff working in different roles, including Walmart’s global technology division, e-commerce operations inside American stores and its advertising units Walmart Connect.

Attempts to streamline

Some positions will be eliminated while some new posts will be created so that better work can be done on it to fulfill the company’s long-term strategy. In the memorandum issued by the company, it has been told that we have to focus our attention to further accelerate our progress in the experience that defines the future in the retail sector.

Walmart is the largest company in the US retail sector, which has about 16 lakh employees. About 21 lakh people are working with it worldwide. It is also the largest importer company of America, which imports about 60 percent of the goods, mostly clothes, electronics and toys, from China.

In February, Walmart closed its office in North Carolina and shifted the staff working there to California and Arkansas. Last week, the company announced to increase the prices of some items till the end of May.
