Kisan Credit card: On the one hand, farmers organizations have launched a movement against the agricultural laws of the Center (Kisan Andolan) and on the other side there is good news for the farmers of Bihar (Bihar ke Kisan). In Bihar, farmers who have taken KCC loans from Co-operative Bank have got some relief. Farmers who take loans from cooperative banks will be able to forgive up to 90 per cent in interest.
According to the media report, this scheme has been started from December 15 for the waiver of interest in cooperative banks of Bihar. During the review meeting of the scheme, the Secretary of the department Vandana Preyasi also directed banks to give notice to all NPA holders. The government has decided that till January 31, farmers who apply for waiver of interest can get benefit of 90 percent interest waiver.

According to the government’s order, those applying in January will get the benefit of 90 percent interest forgiveness, while in February, up to 80 percent. In fact, the government’s concern is that through KCC, the money of banks is stuck with the defaulters. This amount is 563 crores rupees. This will benefit about two lakh farmers of Bihar. Individual borrowers can also avail default packs with the benefit of a lump sum settlement scheme (OTS) of the cooperative bank.

Vandana Preyasi, the secretary of the department, has asked to give benefits to the indebted farmers and others by setting up camps at the bank level. According to the information received, the number of farmers taking KCC from cooperative banks in Bihar is about four lakhs. Out of these, the account of about two lakh farmers has become NPA.
About 300 crore rupees of banks are trapped in these accounts. Banks have given notice to about 56 thousand NPA accounts. About 563 crore rupees of banks are stuck in these accounts. 1600 farmers have availed the benefit of this scheme till Abha. About six and a half crore rupees have been recovered from these farmers.
