Lakshadweep Flight: Amid the India-Maldives dispute, Alliance Air, the only airline operating flight services to Lakshadweep, has started additional flights. Due to increase in the number of passengers wishing to visit Lakshadweep, Alliance Air has started additional flights to Kochi-Agatti-Kochi for Lakshadweep. A senior official of Alliance Air said that additional flights will operate two days a week i.e. on Sunday and Wednesday.

Book all tickets till March

Alliance Air is the only airline operating in Lakshadweep, flying between Kochi and Agatti Island in Kerala, which has a regional airport serving Lakshadweep. Alliance Airlines will run 70-seat flights to Lakshadweep every day. An airline official said that all the tickets for this flight till March have been sold. The official said, “We are getting a lot of queries regarding tickets on phone and social media. Following the huge demand for tickets, a new flight has been added on the same route and if required, more flights will be increased.

Many flights will be operated in the coming days

At a recent annual general meeting, SpiceJet CEO Ajay Singh also informed that the airline has special rights under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) for Lakshadweep and they will soon start flights to Lakshadweep. However, travel portals have reported that they are receiving a record number of queries for Lakshadweep. India’s smallest union territory, Lakshadweep came into limelight when Prime Minister Modi shared a photo of his visit to the union territory on January 22. Along with this, the PM had told the people that Lakshadweep is more beautiful than Maldives.

What was the matter?

PM Narendra Modi made his first visit to Lakshadweep in the year 2024. During this time he shared his experiences of Lakshadweep on social media. During this time he enjoyed ‘snorkeling’ to explore the life under the sea. Modi posted pictures related to finding life under the sea on social media platform X. PM Modi also shared photos of his morning walk on the beaches of Lakshadweep and some leisure moments sitting on a chair by the beach. After this, objectionable comments were made by the leaders of Maldives about India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After this, online boycott campaign against Maldives started. The clear effect of which is visible.
