What are the rules of going to Lakshadweep?

In 1967, some terms and conditions were made for Lakshadweep, Minicoy and Amindivi Islands. Under this, people who do not live in these places will have to obtain a permit to enter and stay. However, government officials, soldiers and their families visiting or working on the island do not require a permit. On the other hand, it is mandatory for foreign tourists to have a valid passport and Indian visa for entry into India including Lakshadweep.

How much will it cost to get a permit?

According to the official website of Lakshadweep Travel, the purpose of prior permission is to protect the indigenous Scheduled Tribes, who form about 95 percent of the region’s population. As per the rules of 1967, Entry Permit Form can be filled online (Lakshadweep Permit Form) and it is required to be submitted to the Administrator. The application fee is Rs 50 per applicant, with an additional charge of Rs 100 for children aged 12 to 18 years and Rs 200 for persons above 18 years of age.

Permission will have to be taken from the police also

People coming from other places in India will also have to obtain a Police Clearance Certificate from the Police Commissioner of their respective district. Apart from this, applicants will also have to provide self-attested photocopies of their ID card along with three passport size photographs.

How much will it cost to go to Lakshadweep?

After the issue of PM Modi’s Lakshadweep tour and Maldives Boycott was raised, now many people are showing interest in going here. According to travel company Make My Trip, the cost of going from Delhi to Lakshadweep (Delhi-Lakshadweep Tour Package) for 5 days and four nights is around Rs 25 to 50 thousand. However, its initial tour package is of Rs 20 thousand. To go to Lakshadweep, you will have to book a ticket for Agatti Airport in Kochi. Kochi is the only airport to go to Lakshadweep. After reaching Agatti Island, you can go to Lakshadweep by boat or helicopter.
