Up to 500 employees furloughed on one call
This time’s retrenchment in Byju’s may affect up to 500 employees. This time these employees got a call from the HR department on 31st March. During the call itself, he was told that the company has started the process of firing him and his exit process is being started immediately. The last working day of those employees was 31st March.
Round of layoffs continues in BYJU’s
This is not the first time that such an incident has happened in Byju’s. At the beginning of last month, this online edtech company had closed more than 20 of its regional offices. These were opened in Delhi, Gurugram, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai and other cities. The company then said that it had started the process of restructuring its office space a few months ago under the leadership of CEO Arjun Mohan. Now the decision to close all the regional offices to cut costs has been finalized.
After this the company also announced the closure of 30 of its tuition centres. After acquiring Aakash Educational Services, Byju’s also started opening its tuition centers across the country. At the end of March, it closed 30 of its 292 tuition centres. Byju’s says that this is one of its measures to reduce expenses.
