Traffic Challan: If you have old traffic challans or any small case is stuck, then there is a relief news for you. Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) is organizing National Lok Adalat on Saturday 13 September 2025. Similarly, Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority will also set up Lok Adalat in Mumbai and other cities.
Where will Lok Adalat be held in Delhi?
Lok Adalat will be held from 10 am to 4 pm. It will be held not only in Delhi High Court but also in all district courts, Debt Recovery Tribunals, Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions and Permanent Lok Adalats. Its purpose is to resolve small matters of people quickly and peacefully. Court fees are also refunded and the decision is immediately valid.
Which cases can be settled?
National Lok Adalat covers civil and criminal compoundable cases. This time, the focus is on Delhi Traffic Police challans.
Rules for settling challans
Compoundable challans or notices till 31 May 2025 will be included.
The link to download them is open: traffic.delhipolice.gov.in/notice/lokadalat
60,000 challans can be downloaded daily. The total limit is 1.8 lakh challans.
The court complex, court number and timing will be written on the challan slip itself.
How much discount can be availed?
Lok Adalat provides huge relief on traffic challans. Past experiences show that 30% to 75% discount on challans is common. There is no fixed slab here. The amount of concession depends on the discretion of the judge and the type of case.
The atmosphere of Lok Adalat is not like that of a normal court. Here the officers and lawyers work towards compromise. You go to the court with your challan or case papers, the officers in front look at the case and immediately offer a settlement. As soon as you pay the fixed amount, the case is considered closed.
Lok Adalat in Maharashtra too
Lok Adalat will be held on September 13 in Mumbai and other cities of Maharashtra too. Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority had already announced the year-long schedule. This year the Lok Adalats are scheduled to be held on March 22, May 10, September 13 and December 13.
Why is Lok Adalat special?
Lok Adalat not only reduces the burden of the court but also provides relief to the common people. Cases are settled quickly, cheaply and without any hassle. It is especially useful in cases like traffic challans. If you have pending challans, then this is the opportunity to settle them for half or one-third of the amount.
