LPG Crisis: The central government has taken a major decision regarding cooking gas. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has issued a new directive, according to which, in areas where piped natural gas (PNG) is available, if people do not shift from LPG cylinders to PNG, their LPG supply may be cut off. The government says this step has been taken to rapidly expand the gas network in the country and reduce dependence on a single fuel.
The ongoing war in West Asia has affected LPG supplies, leading to a shortage in the country. In response, the government is encouraging people to switch to PNG, which is delivered directly to homes through pipes and eliminates the hassle of booking cylinders. According to new rules issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, if a household doesn’t take a PNG connection within three months, the LPG supply can be cut off.
