Maoist Ranjeet, who was involved in four major attacks on security forces, surrendered, Telangana Police gave a check of Rs 4 lakh

The Telangana DGP appealed to the Maoists to join the mainstream and be a part of the progress of the nation after Ranjit surrendered. He also said that those who surrender will get the benefit of the rehabilitation policy of the Telangana government.

The Telangana Police on Wednesday announced the surrender of Maoist Ravula Ranjit alias Srikanth (23). Ranjit was working in CPI (Maoist) as a member of Platoon Party Committee (PPC). Telangana DGP M Mahendar Reddy handed over a demand draft of Rs 4 lakh for his rehabilitation and also Rs 5,000 for immediate expenses.

According to the Indian Express report, the DGP told the media that Ranjit was involved in 4 major attacks on security forces between 2018 and 2021. According to him, Ranjit was involved in the Kistaram (Chhattisgarh) attack on security forces in 2018, in which 9 CRPF personnel were killed. In March 2020, 23 soldiers were martyred and three Maoists were also killed in the Minpa attack. After the attack, the Maoists looted 12 AK-47s and 2 INSAS rifles from the security forces.

Father and Central Committee member Ramanna had died last year.

Similarly, he was also involved in the Jhiram attack in April this year, in which 26 security forces were killed. In this, the security forces also killed 6 Maoists. According to the police, Ranjit was involved in another attack in Erram in 2020, in which the security forces were not harmed and a Maoist was killed.

According to the police, Ranjeet’s father Ravula Srinivas alias Ramanna was a member of the Central Committee and also the secretary of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC). Ramanna died last year due to illness. Ranjit was living with his mother Madhivi Savitri, who is a member of the Divisional Committee of Kistaram Area Committee. According to the police, after the death of his father, Ranjit was not getting respect in the organization and was being neglected.

According to the Telangana DGP, Ranjit was born in the forest of Dandakaranya and brought up in the South Bastar division of Chhattisgarh. Realizing the unacceptability of the armed movement at the present time, he has decided to leave the Maoist organization.

Promoted Maoist ideology for two years

The DGP also told that Ranjit had studied up to sixth in the Janatana Sarkar School set up by the Maoists in Puttapadu, Chhattisgarh. After this his father sent him to study in Nizamabad school on fake identity. After completing 10th from here, he returned to the forest and joined the Underground Armed Organization in April 2015. He worked to spread Maoist ideas among the tribals for two years and then in 2017 joined the second platoon of Company-1 as a party member. After this, he was also promoted as a PPC member in 2019.

The Telangana DGP appealed to the Maoists to join the mainstream and be a part of the progress of the nation after Ranjit surrendered. He also said that the surrendered people will get the benefit of the rehabilitation policy of the Telangana government as well as immediate financial assistance and other help.
