Maruti makes 7 big announcements ahead of e-Vitara launch; benefits for every EV owner

Maruti has currently postponed the launch of its first electric car, the Maruti e-Vitara, to 2026, but before the launch, the company has made 7 big announcements for EV owners, which you must know.

Maruti Suzuki’s first electric car may be some time away from launch, but the country’s leading auto manufacturer is focusing heavily on the electric vehicle ecosystem. The company hasn’t yet launched its electric car, the Maruti e-Vitara, but its full features have been revealed, along with its range. The car will be available with two battery packs. However, charging issues surrounding electric cars in India are also a concern.

Work is ongoing on charging infrastructure, but charging an electric car remains a difficult task. However, Maruti has made this task easier for the public. Before launching its first electric car, the company focused on charging infrastructure and made several major announcements that every auto enthusiast, and especially electric car buyer, should know about.

Maruti’s Focus on the EV Ecosystem

1. Maruti Suzuki has announced a robust and fully digital EV ecosystem for its electric cars. This new system will provide services ranging from home charging to public charging on a single platform, with seamlessly integrated payment options.

2. In a historic move, the company has signed agreements with 13 major charge point operators and aggregators. This will provide Maruti customers with a seamless and hassle-free charging experience on a single platform.

3. Maruti Suzuki is providing over 2,000 exclusive charging points across its dealer network across the country. In addition, thousands of charging points operated by the company’s partners will also be available to customers across India.

4. The company has stated that it will work with its partners to provide over 100,000 public charging points across the country by 2030.

5. To demonstrate the strength of its charging network, Maruti dispatched four e-Vitara SUVs from Gurugram across the country. From Srinagar in the north, Kanyakumari in the south, Bhuj in Kutch in the west, and Dibrugarh in the east—which the company has dubbed “e-drive.”

6. The company claims that the e-Vitara has been tested in harsh conditions. It has been driven in conditions ranging from scorching heat of 60°C to freezing cold of -30°C, in “sand to snow” conditions, and the vehicle has consistently delivered excellent performance. According to the company, this SUV offers a driving range of 543 kilometers on a single full charge.
