PM Modi to hold meeting with all political parties of Kashmir on June 24

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is presiding over a meeting with all political parties in Jammu and Kashmir on June 24 as part of the Centre’s initiative to strengthen political processes, including holding assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. In a significant initiative, nearly two years after the abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories, on 5 August 2019, Prime Minister Modi will hold a meeting with mainstream political parties from Jammu.

Sources say that the Center is reaching out to mainstream political parties to end the political deadlock in the Union Territory. The meeting is taking place amid speculations that the statehood will be restored to Jammu and Kashmir. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other central leaders are likely to participate in this meeting.
