Joe Biden Administration in the US has introduced an ambitious immigration bill in Parliament,
which will benefit millions of Indian IT professionals. The bill also provides for the elimination of earlier restrictions on limiting the number of migrants of a country for employment-based green card.
After the enactment of the ‘US Citizenship Bill 2021’ law, dependents of H-1B visa holders will also be allowed to work, thousands of Indians working in the technology sector in America will also benefit. The passage of the bill in both houses of parliament – the House of Representatives and the Senate and the enactment of the law after the sign of President Joe Biden – will pave the way for millions of people living in the country without documentation and legitimately getting citizenship.
Indians will be the biggest beneficiaries
The enactment of this law will benefit millions of Indian IT professionals and their families. With the passage of this bill, people who have been waiting for a green card for more than 10 years will also be allowed to lawfully stay in the country in an immediate legal manner as they will be exempted from the condition of visa.
Senator Bob Menendez, who drafted the bill, and Linda Sanchez, a member of the House of Representatives, told journalists that the US Citizenship Act 2021 provided for immigration reform. Under this important step, professionals who have been waiting for more than 10 years for a green card, will also be approved to remain valid permanently. Indians will be the biggest beneficiaries of this law.
Indian students will also get benefit
Biden sent the bill to Parliament after taking oath on 20 January. Under this, pending employment based visa will be approved. The limits imposed on visas for each country will also be removed and the waiting time will be reduced.
The bill has also made a provision to make the path holders of STEM subjects from American universities a way to stay in America. It is noteworthy that India has the largest number of students in American universities for degrees in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects.
