The central government has targeted to make modern silos for storing wheat within four years. At the same time, the government is also working on a pilot project for modern storage of rice.
So that within a few years the number of food spoilage during storage can be reduced drastically. Food Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey says that the government will soon start a plan for modernization of storage. The government is trying to store wheat in modern silos by 2024-25. With this, open warehouses have been dismantled to reduce the number of food spoilage.
20% capacity of godowns increased
He said that the capacity of the state government and the central warehouse warehouses have also been increased. Sudhanshu Pandey said that about 20 percent capacity has been increased in warehouses. So that more and more food grains can be kept in closed warehouses. This is the reason why there has been a decrease in food grains.
The Food Secretary said that a pilot project is going on in Buxar to keep the rice for longer. Based on the pilot project, modern silos will also be manufactured for storage of rice. In fact, many years ago, the government started making modern silos in collaboration with the private sector. But the capacity of modern silos has not increased much yet.
