New EPFO Service: A big news is coming for crores of employees under EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organization). The government has made a big and strong change in the system for the convenience of the employees, which will make their work much easier. Yes, employees under EPFO will now be able to avail the Universal Account Number (UAN) and related services only through face verification. Union Labor Minister Mansukh Mandaviya gave this information on Tuesday. Work will be done with Umang App
Mandaviya said that EPFO has started advanced digital services to allot and activate UAN of Provident Fund through face verification. This is a big and important step towards contactless, secure and completely digital service delivery for crores of EPFO members. He said that now employees can generate their UAN using Aadhaar Face Authentication Technology (FAT) with the help of ‘UMANG’ mobile app.
Employer will also be able to generate UAN of new employee from Umang app
According to the Union Minister, any employer (company) can use Umang app to generate UAN for their new employee through Aadhaar FAT. Not only this, employees who already have UAN numbers but have not activated their UAN yet, can also activate their UAN number by visiting Umang app. He said that in the coming days, the facility of digital life certificate will be started with face authentication technology in collaboration with ‘My Bharat’ to provide service to EPFO pensioners at their doorstep.
24,000 employees of Bihar will get benefit of ESIC schemes
In the last financial year 2024-25, EPFO has allotted a total of 1.26 crore UANs. However, out of these only 44 lakh UANs were activated. On the expansion of ESIC in Bihar, the Union Minister said that now out of the total 38 districts of Bihar, 27 districts are fully notified and 11 districts are partially notified. After the notification of 6 districts, this number will increase to 33 districts. These 6 new districts include Araria, Saharsa, Aurangabad, Banka, East Champaran and Gopalganj.
