According to the new travel guidelines of the United Arab Emirates, if the passengers have more than 60,000 dirhams of gold, cash, jewelry, precious stones or other valuable items while going there and returning, then they will have to declare it.
Why was this decision taken?
This decision has been taken to stop the smuggling of illegal goods. Strict action can be taken against those who do not follow these rules. ICP’s online and mobile app simplifies the declaration process for passengers at Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah airports. Passengers can enter all the information online.
Passengers can download ICP’s declare.customs.ae website and Afseh mobile app. This rule will apply to all passengers above the age of 18 years. For those younger than this, their guardians will have to give information. ICP has asked passengers to declare valuables online in advance so that passengers do not face delay. Additional address and contact details will need to be entered depending on whether the passenger is in the UAE or abroad. Passengers receive both an SMS and an in-app notification. Their status can also be tracked online.
