Vande Bharat Train: Indian Railways is bringing another big gift for passengers. Given the popularity of the semi-high speed train Vande Bharat Express across the country, the Railways is now launching four new Vande Bharat trains. With the introduction of these trains, the total number of Vande Bharat services in the country will increase to 164. Significantly, these trains will connect different parts of the country, providing passengers with a fast, comfortable, and modern travel experience.
According to a report in the Indian Express, a senior railway official stated that four new Vande Bharat trains have been approved. These trains will soon be on the tracks and will be operational for passengers after trial runs. According to the railways, these trains have been approved keeping in mind Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi.
New Vande Bharat trains will run on these routes:
KSR Bengaluru – Ernakulam
Ferozepur Cantt – Delhi
Varanasi – Khajuraho
Lucknow – Saharanpur
Details of the KCR Bengaluru-Ernakulam Vande Bharat train have also been revealed. According to a notification issued by the Railway Board on Friday, train number 26651 KSR Bengaluru-Ernakulam Junction Vande Bharat Express will depart Bengaluru at 5:10 am and arrive in Ernakulam at 1:50 pm. On the return journey, train number 26652 Ernakulam Junction-KSR Bengaluru Vande Bharat will depart Ernakulam at 2:20 pm and arrive in Bengaluru at 11 pm. The train will stop at Krishnarajapuram, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Palakkad, and Thrissur.
Increasing Demand for Vande Bharat
According to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Vande Bharat Express trains are running with over 100% occupancy on every route. Their average occupancy stood at 102.01% in FY 2024-25, while it has increased to 105.03% in the initial months (till June) of the current FY 2025-26.
