With this, the project will be completed under which Kashmir will be connected to the rest of the country. This project was started 42 years ago. Work on the last 111 km long Katra-Banihal section of the 272 km long Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramula Railway Line (USBRL) was completed in January.

Of the Vande Bharat trains that PM Modi will inaugurate, one will run from Katra to Srinagar and the other from Srinagar to Katra.
