Following the deterioration of air quality in Delhi and surrounding areas, Gurugram’s Deputy Commissioner issued a new advisory on Sunday, advising all private offices to work from home. He also revised the opening and closing times of government offices.
Work from home: The air quality in Delhi and surrounding areas is continuously deteriorating. In light of this, the Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram took a significant decision on Sunday. He advised all private offices to work from home. The Gurugram District Administration also changed the opening and closing times of government offices.
GRAP IV Implemented in Delhi-NCR
This action follows the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) implementing GRAP IV in Delhi-NCR. The air quality in Delhi and surrounding areas has deteriorated significantly over the past few days. On Monday morning, Gurugram recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 325, which falls in the “very poor” category. Meanwhile, Delhi’s AQI was 366, which falls in the “very poor” category. This information is available on the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB)’s SAMEER app.
Changes in Government Office Timings
Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar has issued an advisory, urging all private offices to allow their employees to work from home until the air quality improves. The Gurugram District Administration has also changed the working hours of all state and municipal offices. All state government offices in Gurugram will now operate from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. The offices of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram and the Municipal Corporation of Manesar will operate from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Similarly, the offices of the Municipal Councils and Municipal Committees in Sohna, Pataudi Mandi, and Farrukhnagar will also operate from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
This decision will reduce traffic congestion on the roads
The purpose of these changed office hours is to spread out people’s travel during the morning and evening rush hours. This will reduce traffic congestion on the roads. The district administration says this arrangement will remain in effect as long as GRAP-IV is in effect in the area. Officials said these steps are being taken to protect public health and the environment. They added that if air quality does not improve, further measures may be taken.
