The wait for the NEET UG 2026 notification ended on Sunday, February 8, 2026. The National Testing Agency (NTA) issued this notification, marking the start of the NEET UG 2026 registration process. This process will continue until March 8, 2026. Candidates participating in the NEET UG registration process should note that the NTA has added several new rules to the process, which every candidate should be aware of before applying. The NTA itself has released related videos on Twitter to help candidates avoid any problems.

This year, the NTA has added Aadhaar-based eKYC, live photography, supporting documents, and other requirements for form filling to the registration process. The NTA has added these new rules to prevent impersonation and duplication during registration and to improve the integrity of the national-level exam.
NEET UG 2026: Here are the NTA’s new rules
Aadhaar-based eKYC: Starting this year, the NTA has introduced Aadhaar-based eKYC for identity verification of candidates. Students applying for NEET UG 2026 must verify that their Aadhaar-linked number is active and has network connectivity. The NTA has written in its statement, “Candidates should ensure that their Aadhaar-linked number is active and has adequate network coverage.”
Live Photo Capture: Students will be required to capture a live photo to submit their application form. All students applying for the exam must ensure that their photo covers 80% of the frame and avoid wearing caps, glasses, or goggles to avoid mismatches.
The NTA has advised candidates to ensure their webcam is working properly. You can upload a photo using your mobile camera by scanning a QR code on any phone and completing your application.
These new rules will ensure proper verification of candidates applying for NEET UG 2026. The live photo will be automatically compared to the Aadhaar photo, but if the live photograph does not match the Aadhaar photograph, the candidate will be required to upload a valid supporting certificate during the form filling process.
