The Department of Financial Services (DFS) has given information about this by tweeting. It is written in the tweet that the accounts of PM Jan Dhan Yojana have increased three times. Let us tell you that the number of accounts has increased from 14.72 crore in March 2015 to 42.76 crore accounts by 21 July 2021.

The Department of Financial Services wrote in a tweet that the amount deposited in PMJDY accounts has achieved manifold growth since inception (from Rs 15,670 crore in March 15 to Rs 145,551 crore as of March 21). This is a big testament to the success of the financial inclusion programme.

Get the benefit of 2.30 lakhs

Jan Dhan account holders are given a benefit of Rs 2.30 lakh. Accidental insurance cover is given to Jan Dhan account holders on opening an account in any bank. Accidental insurance of Rs 1,00,000 and general insurance of Rs 30,000 is given to the account holders. If the Jan Dhan account holder meets with an accident, then Rs 30,000 is given to him. If the account holder dies in an accident, then he is given Rs 2 lakh. In this context, the Jan Dhan account holder can get up to Rs 2.30 lakh.

Apart from this, customers do not have to worry about keeping the minimum balance. In this account, government customers are also given the facility of overdraft of Rs 10000. Along with this, the benefit of interest as much as the savings account is also available. The benefit of mobile banking is also given. Apart from this, Rupay card is available for cash withdrawal and shopping.

How can I open an account?

Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, the account is opened more in public sector banks. But, if you want, you can also open your Jan Dhan account in a private bank. If you have any other savings account then you can convert it to Jan Dhan account also. Any citizen residing in India, whose age is 10 years or more, can open a Jan Dhan account.




Which documents will be required?

To open a Jan Dhan account, document verification is done under KYC. Jan Dhan account can be opened using these documents. Aadhar Card, Pan Card, Driving License, Voter ID Card, Passport, MNREGA Job Card.
