Old Pension Scheme: Big News! Now the old pension scheme will be implemented in this state, CM announced

If the old pension scheme is implemented in Sikkim, it will benefit more than 30,000 government employees.

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang said that the state government will bring back the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for its employees. He said the government has received the report of the committee it constituted last year to study OPS in Sikkim. Addressing a function in Namchi on Monday, he said that the state government has started work for the restoration of OPS based on the report.

If the old pension scheme is implemented in Sikkim, it will benefit more than 30,000 government employees. Government service is the main source of livelihood for a large section of the state’s population. The committee on OPS, headed by Department of Personnel Secretary Rinjing Chewang Bhutia, was formed last year following representations from government employees.

Finance Secretary MCP Pradhan and Additional Director of Pension Division Punita Elle are the other members of the committee. Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang also announced that the services of 20,000 contractual employees will be regularized under ‘One Family One Job’ (OFOJ).

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang also announced medical aid for Class III and IV employees. He said that an advance amount of Rs 500000 will be provided to these employees for medical aid. He said that the employees will get significant benefits from the financial assistance package announced by the government.

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh has started a Shravan Kumar Award. This award will be given every year by the state government. This award will be given to those sons and daughters of Gram Panchayat and Nagar Panchayat who will show their love for their parents selflessly. This award will be given every year on 15th August.

OPS major issue for Congress

Let us tell you that before this, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Himachal governments have also said about implementing the Old Pension Scheme. This has become a major issue for Congress in every election.
