India vs Pakistan, ICC T20 World Cup 2026: The suspense surrounding the epic match between India and Pakistan, scheduled for February 15, 2026, has ended. Both teams will take the field and play the match as scheduled, as confirmed by the Pakistan government itself. The Pakistan government has directed the Pakistan cricket team to take the field as scheduled for their scheduled match in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on February 15, 2026. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has also extended his best wishes to the “Green Team.” The Pakistan government also stated that they have decided to play the match with India on February 15, both for the sake of global cricket and with consideration for Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
This statement from the Pakistan government has put an end to days of speculation about whether the “world’s most expensive cricket match,” which some reports estimate to cost around ₹40 billion (US$40 billion), will take place. This statement from the neighboring country has come a day after the meeting of PCB, BCB and ICC in Lahore.
The Pakistan Government has said, ‘Following the results of multilateral talks and the request of friendly countries, the Government of Pakistan directs the Pakistan national cricket team to take the field to play its scheduled match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on 15 February 2026.’

It further stated, “This decision has been taken to protect the spirit of cricket and support the continuity of this global game in all participating countries.”
Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also received a call from Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who requested him to withdraw the boycott decision.
The statement stated, “The Sri Lankan President requested the Prime Minister to seriously consider resolving the current impasse amicably.”
BCB chief Aminul Islam had requested the PCB
Earlier, Bangladesh Cricket Board chief Aminul Islam had issued a statement requesting Pakistan to play the match for the good of the game. It was only after this that it became clear that Pakistan would play the match.
Pakistan Cricket Board chief Mohsin Naqvi had previously stated that a formal decision on the matter would be taken within the next 24 hours.
