Paytm brought amazing offer, giving cashback of Rs 2000 for free, but…

Due to the Covid-19 lockdown, people were forced to stay indoors, which also saw a significant increase in the number of users using digital payments. But, on the other hand, along with the increase in the number of digital payments, there has also been an increase in the number of cyber frauds in the country. Cybercriminals keep weaving new webs every day to cheat money. At the same time, now a similar trap has been woven by these criminals for Paytm users, to avoid which we are going to give you complete information about this scam.

Rs 2,000 cashback on Paytm

In fact, according to a report that has now surfaced, cyber thugs are working to clear their bank accounts under the guise of giving cashback of Rs 2,000 to Paytm users. In this new scam, users are being targeted who do not know how phishing websites work.

Cashback notification

Criminals are sending a browser notification to the users, clicking on which takes the users to a fraud website paytm-cashoffer[dot]com. The news website Indian Express has given this information. After clicking on the notification, you will reach the website paytm-cashoffer[dot]com. The website displays that you have received a cashback of Rs 2,647 with a button that says “Send Gift to Paytm” at the bottom of the screen. Most of the users directly click on the “Send Rewards to Paytm” button without seeing the URL at the top. Once you click on the link, you will be redirected to the original Paytm app instead of the fake Paytm website asking you to make the payment.

This message coming in notification

According to the report, the notification reads, ‘Congratulations! ‘You have won Paytm Scratch Card’ Once the user clicks on the notification, they are taken to the fake and fraud website paytm-cashoffer[dot]com. This website hackers have designed the official Paytm website only, so that the user can fall into their trap.

Fake Paytm website

The report states that the scam works only on mobile phones, which means that the scammers working behind this fake website are targeting mobile users. If you have also received any such message, then do not click on it by mistake.
