Rajasthan Chief Minister Gehlot said that the central government is levying a tax of Rs 32.98 on 1 liter of petrol, similarly Rs 31.83 on 1 liter of diesel. Which is too much.

On the one hand there are reports of increase in the prices of petrol and diesel across the country, on the other hand, the Gehlot Government of Rajasthan has taken a big decision to reduce the prices of petrol. The Gehlot government of Rajasthan has decided to reduce the VAT tax (value-added tax) on the price of petrol and diesel by two percent. Due to which the people of Rajasthan can get some relief. State Financial Department has issued an order. Which has been implemented since midnight on Thursday.

Regarding this decision, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has said that “On the one hand, crude oil prices are at their lowest level in the international market, on the other hand, the prices of petrol and diesel are increasing in the country. Due to which the general public is facing economic difficulties.

On the day of 27 January, the price of branded or premium petrol in Sriganganagar city of Rajasthan reached Rs 100 per liter. Petrol and diesel prices vary due to local tax or VAT tax imposed in different states. Rajasthan Chief Minister Gehlot said that “the central government is charging Rs. 32.98 on 1 liter of petrol. Similarly, tax of Rs. 31.83 on 1 liter of diesel is very high.”

Questioning the policies of the Central Government, Gehlot said, “The share of excise duty paid by the Government of India to the states is continuously being reduced, which has fallen from Rs. 9.48 per liter of petrol to 2.98 and 11.33 for diesel. 4.83 has been reduced from Rs. Due to which Rajasthan and other states are facing huge loss of revenue.

Chief Minister Gehlot further said that “Central government is continuously increasing the additional excise duty on petrol and diesel from Rs. 8 to Rs. 18 per liter, similarly special excise duty has been increased from Rs. 7 to Rs. 12 on petrol and on diesel. It has been increased from zero to 9 rupees per liter.

“Due to this policy of the central government, the states are not getting their benefits. Apart from this, people are also upset with the rising prices of petrol and diesel. Chief Minister Gehlot further said, ‘Looking at the Rajasthan government, the central government should also reduce the central tax on petrol and diesel and give relief to the common man.
