What is the PM Kisan Yojana?
The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is a central government scheme that provides financial assistance of ₹6,000 annually to eligible farmers. This amount is transferred directly to their bank accounts in three equal installments.
Who are eligible farmers?
The benefits of this scheme are extended to all landholding farmer families whose cultivable land is registered in their name. Regardless of the size of the land, whether large or small, all farmer families are covered under this scheme.
Land Size No Longer a Barrier
According to information available on the scheme’s website, land size is no longer a criterion for eligibility. This means that farmer families with land holdings of more than two hectares are also eligible for the scheme’s benefits.
When will the 21st installment be released?
According to reports, the 21st installment of the PM Kisan Yojana may be released in the first fortnight of November. However, the government has not yet announced an official date.
On October 7, Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan transferred ₹171 crore via video conferencing to the accounts of 8.55 lakh farmers, of whom over 85,000 were women farmers. So far, farmers in Jammu and Kashmir have received a total of ₹4,052 crore.
Can the installment be released during the code of conduct?
Currently, the code of conduct is in effect in Bihar, leading some to wonder whether the government can release the installment. Therefore, there is no restriction on releasing installments under the PM Kisan Yojana. As soon as the technical formalities between the state and central governments are completed, the amount will be transferred to farmers’ accounts.
What should farmers do?
Check your PM-Kisan status on the official website (pmkisan.gov.in).
Complete the e-KYC process—this is mandatory, otherwise your installment may be delayed.
If you haven’t applied yet, apply immediately to benefit from the next installment.
