PM Modi spoke to CM Uddhav Thackeray, reviewed the situation of Cyclone Toute

Many ships ready

The barge is shaped like a ferry but has a lower chamber and a roof above. “Several other ships have also been kept ready for humanitarian aid and disaster relief work in the wake of the cyclonic storm ‘Toute’ which wreaked havoc on the west coast of India,” the spokesperson said. The war vessel INS Kochi is expected to reach near Barjah at around 4 pm.

The storm passing through the coast of Maharashtra reached Mumbai on Monday morning and due to this the flight service at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in the city remained closed from 11 AM to 2 PM. Due to Toute, ‘Red Alert’ has been issued in neighboring Raigad district while ‘Orange Alert’ has been issued in Mumbai. Mono rail service in Mumbai has been closed for the day. Local train service of Central Railway was affected between Ghatkopar to Vikhroli.

Torrential rain

While moving towards Gujarat in the north of cyclonic storm ‘Toute’, there were strong thunderstorms, torrential rains and high waves in the sea in Maharashtra and Goa. India Meteorological Department said that the cyclone will reach Gujarat coast on Monday evening and it will be horrific. The Meteorological Department’s Cyclone Warning Center said, ‘Severe cyclonic storm’ Toute ‘in the east-central Arabian Sea has been moving towards north-north-west at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour in the last six hours and has taken a severe form is.’


He said, ‘It is expected to move north-northwest and reach Gujarat coast between Porbandar and Mahuva (Bhavnagar district) on the evening of May 17 and a severe thunderstorm on the night of May 17 (between eight and 11 o’clock). There is a possibility that the wind speed can increase from 155 to 165 km / h, up to a maximum of 185 km / h. ‘
