PMGKY scheme ration card family will get free wheat and rice till this month of 2021, know about the next scheme of the government

Amidst the crisis caused by the Corona epidemic, the Central Government has implemented the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKY Scheme) to provide relief to the ration card holder families. According to a government statement, about 600 lakh tonnes or 6 crore food grains were allocated for free distribution under this scheme, out of which states have lifted 83 percent food grains till September 15. Let us inform that in order to overcome the difficulties being faced by the poor and the needy due to the economic disruptions arising during the time of Kovid-19 pandemic, the central government had announced PMGKAY last year.

In view of the crisis, the government increased the plan

Under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), the central government is giving an additional quantity of five kilograms of food grains per person per month free of cost over and above the normal quota given to more than 80 crore beneficiaries. Initially this additional free benefit under PMGKAY was provided for a period of three months (April-June 2020). However, with the crisis continuing, the program was extended for another five months (July-November 2020).

At the onset of the second wave of the pandemic, the PMGKY was once again resumed for two months (May-June 2021) and further extended for a further period of five months (July-November 2021).

Grain will be available in the fourth phase till November

“The Government of India has so far allocated about 600 lakh tonnes of food grains under the PMGKAY scheme in all the four phases,” the statement said. Out of the total allocation made in all phases under the scheme, 82.76 per cent foodgrains have been lifted till September 15, 2021. had gone. The fourth phase will conclude in November 2021.




Know which state lifted how much food grains

The Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar is on top by lifting the highest percentage of food grains during the fourth phase. It has lifted 93 per cent of the allocated foodgrains under PMGKAY-IV phase, followed by Odisha with 92 per cent. Tripura and Meghalaya are in third place with 73-73 per cent each, while Telangana, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh have lifted 71 per cent food grains till September 15.
