PMJJBY: Insurance of two lakh rupees will be available, not even a single rupee will be spent

PMJJBY: In case of death till the age of 55 years, then the life insurance of Rs 2 lakh will be provided by the government to the nominee under PMJJBY.

Life insurance of Rs 2 lakh

Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana was started by the Central Government on 9 May 2015 to provide the benefits of the policy to the citizens of the country.

If death occurs due to any reason till the age of 55 years, then under PMJJBY, life insurance of Rs 2 lakh will be provided to his family nominee by the government.

Affordable rate of premium is available in the scheme for all citizens belonging to almost all income groups including EWS and BPL.

The insurance cover will start from 1st June of the same year and will be till 31st May of the following year. No medical examination is required to buy insurance.

Payment made to 56716 people

The benefit of Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana can be availed only through a bank account.

If any person withdraws from this scheme, then in the coming time by paying the annual premium and showing self-declaration of good health, he can get the benefit of this scheme again.

Under the scheme, in the year 2020-21, death claim of Rs 1134 crore has been paid to 56716 citizens. 50% of the claims have come due to death due to corona virus infection.

In the financial year 2021 till 102.7 million people are registered in this scheme.

Two lakh on death from covid

On death, an amount of Rs 2 lakh is provided to the nominee.

All those citizens whose family member has died due to corona virus infection or any other reason and that member was registered under this scheme, then he is eligible to get the sum insured of up to two lakh rupees.

He will be able to take advantage of this scheme only if the policy holder has purchased this policy in 2020-21.

Risk cover will be applicable only after 45 days

New policyholders cannot claim under this scheme for the first 45 days of enrollment. The claim can be made only after the completion of 45 days period.

No claim will be settled by the company in the first 45 days, but in case the applicant dies due to an accident, the payment will be made to the applicant.

Option to rejoin the scheme

Any person who has exited from Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana can re-join this scheme.

To re-join the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, the premium amount has to be paid and a health-related self-declaration has to be submitted.

Any person can reap the benefits of this scheme by paying the premium and submitting a self-declaration.

Benefit will not be available in these situations

If the account of the beneficiary has been closed in the bank.

If there is no premium amount in the bank account.

-On completion of 55 years of age.

A person can take Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana from only one insurance company or from only one bank.

How to apply for the scheme?

You have to download PMJJBY Application Form PDF by visiting the official website of Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana.

After downloading the PDF, you have to fill all the information asked in the form. After filling all the information, you will have to deposit it in the bank where your active savings bank account will be opened.

You must ensure that you have sufficient balance in the account to pay the premium. Thereafter submit a consent letter to join the scheme and auto-debit the premium amount.

How to make a claim?

If the person who has been insured, after his death, his nominee can claim under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana.

After this, first of all, the nominee of the policy holder should contact the bank. Then the nominee will have to take the Prime Minister Jeevan Jyoti Insurance Claim Form and Discharge Receipt from the bank.

Then the nominee will have to submit the claim form and discharge receipt form along with photographs of death certificate and canceled cheque.
