Post Office ATM Charges: There will be a change in the charge on ATM card from October 1, know the new rates

Post Office Savings Account ATM Charges: If you have a savings account in the post office, then there is important news for you. There is going to be a change in the charges on the ATM card from October 1. The Department of Posts has given this information through a circular dated 15 September 2021. According to the circular, the department has also put a cap on the number of financial and non-financial transactions a person can make at ATMs in a month. New atm charges

  • From October 1, ATM/Debit card annual maintenance charge will be Rs 125 plus GST. These charges will be applicable for the period 1 October 2021 and 30 September 2022. India Post will now charge Rs 12 (GST inclusive) for SMS alerts sent to its debit card customers. This charge will be the annual charge for SMS alerts sent to debit card holders.
  • Apart from this, if the customer loses his India Post ATM card, then he will be charged Rs 300 plus GST from October 1 for replacing it with another debit card. With this, if the ATM PIN is lost, then charges will have to be paid for the duplicate PIN from October 1. Rs 50 plus GST will be charged for re-generating the PIN or getting a duplicate PIN through the branch.
  • If ATM or POS transaction is refused due to lack of balance in the savings account, the customer will have to pay Rs 20 plus GST.



  • The Department of Posts has also limited the number of free financial transactions that can be done at ATMs. According to the circular, financial transactions will be charged Rs 10 plus GST per transaction after five free transactions at India Post’s own ATMs. Similarly, financial transactions at other ATMs, three free transactions in metro cities or five free transactions in non-metro cities will be charged Rs 20 plus GST.
  • For non-financial transactions at India Post’s own ATMs, the customer will have to pay Rs 5 plus GST per transaction after five free transactions. In case of ATMs of other banks, after three free transactions in metro cities or five free transactions in non-metro cities, one will have to pay Rs.8 plus GST.
  • Debit card holders will have to pay 1% of the transaction for cash withdrawal at Point of Service (POS), subject to a maximum of Rs 5 per transaction.
