Public Holiday: This day dedicated to Maharishi Valmiki, the great author of Ramayana, will now not only be of religious significance but also of relaxation and celebration.
Public Holiday: Amid the Navratri celebrations, a public holiday has been declared across the state on Tuesday, October 7, on the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti. All schools, colleges, banks, and government offices will remain closed on this day. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath formally announced this in Shravasti on Saturday.
Speaking in the historic atmosphere of Shravasti, CM Yogi said, “October 7 will be a holiday in the state on the occasion of Lord Valmiki’s birth anniversary. An uninterrupted recitation of the Ramayana will be organized in every Dev temple.” He recalled Shravasti as the ancient economic capital of India, which has also been a holy place for Buddhism and Jainism.
