Now, the Lucknow District Magistrate’s office has also declared an official holiday for the Chhath festival in Lucknow. The order has been issued by the District Magistrate’s office. Now, Tuesday, October 28th, will be a public holiday in the capital as well. All government and semi-government offices, schools, and colleges in Lucknow will remain closed during the holiday.

Public Holiday Announcement: Chhath festival is celebrated with great pomp and show across the country. The festival lasts for three days. The Uttar Pradesh government had also declared a public holiday on October 28th, the main festival. Now, Lucknow District Magistrate Visakh G. Iyer has also ordered a holiday in Lucknow on this day. On this day, women offer prayers to the rising sun. The administration has issued instructions to all educational institutions, offices, and government offices to observe the holiday.

The festival is celebrated with great pomp in Lucknow: The Chhath festival is celebrated with great pomp in Lucknow. Thousands of people gather at the ghats to worship Chhathi Maiya. For several days, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation and the district administration have been constructing and cleaning Chhath ghats at several key locations, including the Gomti riverbank. During this festival, devotees visit places like Jhulelal, Gomti Ghat, Gilaula Lake, Kathuta Lake, and the Waterfront to perform puja.

Special arrangements are being made at the ghats: The Municipal Corporation is making special arrangements at all the ghats to ensure that devotees face no difficulties. Security is also being carefully monitored, and police forces are being deployed. Chhath is a festival dedicated to the Sun God. People from Jharkhand, Bihar, and Purvanchal celebrate this festival with special devotion. Lucknow also has a large number of devotees. The unique splendor of this festival is evident here. Women observe a 36-hour fast without water and offer prayers to the setting and rising sun. This fast is extremely difficult, but those who observe it with complete devotion and faith.

District Magistrates have been given these powers: This is why the government, taking care of the fasting women and their families, declares a holiday on this day. The District Magistrates of the respective districts have also been given the authority to declare a public holiday for this festival in their districts if they deem fit. This holiday is declared at the district level by the District Magistrate.
