Public Holiday: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has declared October 7, 2025, a public holiday across the state. This holiday was announced on the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti. To give this day special significance at the state level, UP CM Yogi Adityanath has declared a public holiday. All government offices, schools, colleges, and other government institutions will remain closed. A public holiday has also been declared in the capital, Delhi.
Ramcharit Manas recitations will take place in temples across Uttar Pradesh today on Valmiki Jayanti.
On Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti, the state government will organize various programs across the state as a confluence of devotion and culture. Ramcharit Manas recitations, Akhand Ramayana recitations, Valmiki Ramayana recitations, Sunderkand, bhajan-kirtans, and cultural programs will be organized at temples and sites associated with Maharishi Valmiki across the state.
Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh stated that, on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, this event will be held simultaneously in all 75 districts on October 7th. A budget of ₹75 lakh has been approved for each district, with a contribution of ₹1 lakh. This amount will be spent on honorariums for artists and organizing the event. He directed that the event be organized in a manner consistent with this plan.
He stated that a large-scale event will be held at Lalapur Chitrakoot, the place of Maharishi Valmiki’s penance. Additionally, programs will be held at temples across the state, including Tulsidas Ashram Rajapur, Valmiki Ashram Bithoor (Kanpur), Valmiki Ashram Shravasti, Ayodhya, and Prayagraj. Nodal officers have been designated in each district for the event. Special emphasis has been placed on public participation, including the presence of local public representatives.
Public Holiday Announced in Delhi
The national capital, Delhi, will also observe a public holiday on Tuesday, October 7th, on Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti. Consequently, all schools, colleges, government departments, and government offices will remain closed in Delhi today. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that various cultural and religious programs will be organized in the capital today.
