UIDAI has increased the fees for Aadhaar updates and PVC cards. In this news, learn how much you’ll now have to pay for a name, address, photo, or PVC card update.
The Aadhaar card is no longer just a means of identification, but it has become mandatory for banking, government schemes, and other essential services. To make it more secure, durable, and wallet-safe, the UIDAI has introduced the PVC Aadhaar card. This new card is stronger and longer-lasting than the traditional paper Aadhaar card.
What is a PVC Aadhaar card?
The PVC Aadhaar card is made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and is small enough to fit into a small wallet. It features several security features, including a QR code, hologram, microtext, and guilloche pattern. This not only makes the Aadhaar card more durable but also reduces the likelihood of counterfeiting. This card resembles an ATM card and can be used for a long time.
Online Correction and Fee Changes
UIDAI has now introduced the facility to update Aadhaar information such as name, address, and mobile number online. This service is available from November 1st. The fee for changing name and address has been increased from ₹50 to ₹75, while online updates will remain free until June 14, 2026. The fees at offline Aadhaar Seva Kendras have also been revised, with ₹125 for photo updates and ₹40 for Aadhaar reprints. The new system will verify information directly from the UIDAI database, eliminating the need for people to visit Aadhaar Seva Kendras.
How to Order a PVC Aadhaar Card
Ordering a PVC Aadhaar Card can be done by visiting UIDAI’s official website, uidai.gov.in. To do this, go to the Get Aadhaar section and click on “Order Aadhaar PVC Card.” Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number, or VID, fill in the captcha, and verify via the OTP received on your mobile number. Payment of ₹50 (including GST and Speed Post) can be made online via UPI, credit/debit card, or net banking. Your PVC Aadhaar card will be delivered to your address upon completion of the payment.
