Railway Passengers Rules: Big News! Indian Railways issues new rules for passengers, fine will be imposed if not followed

Indian Railways has made some new rules for the passengers traveling by train. With these rules, passengers can get relief from some problems faced during travel. Often while traveling by train, some people try to keep the lights on the whole night or do activities like listening to songs on the speaker, which causes problems to the passengers. But now Railways has made some rules related to these things.

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has introduced guidelines for passengers traveling by night train, which will provide convenience to the passengers.

What are the new rules for passengers?

  • No passenger will be allowed to talk loudly on mobile in the train.
  • While traveling in train, one cannot listen to loud music without earphones.
  • Passengers will not be allowed to switch on lights after 10 pm
  • Intoxicating substances like cigarettes and alcohol cannot be consumed in the train.
  • No incendiary material of any kind can be taken in the train.
  • Passengers who travel in groups cannot talk loudly after 10 pm.
  • Food is not allowed to be served on the train after 10 pm, however passengers can pre-order their food or snacks while on the train through e-Catering services

What are the new rules for employees?

  • Travel Ticket Examiner (TTE) will not be allowed to check passenger tickets after 10 pm.
  • If any passenger complains about any other passenger, railway staff will have to be present at night.
  • If passengers miss the train, TTE can give those seats to other passengers only after one hour or after crossing the next two stations.

Do not make this mistake while traveling in railways

  • If you are caught traveling without a ticket in Indian Railways, you will have to pay a fine of at least Rs 250. If you do not do this, a case will be registered under Section 137 of the Railway Act. RPF presents these passengers before the registrar, in which case a fine of Rs 1000 is imposed on them. Failure to pay the fine may result in a jail term of up to 6 months.
  • Even for traveling in high class compartment with half ticket, a fine of Rs 250 is imposed.
  • Traveling by train while intoxicated and consuming alcohol on the train is an offence. After this, you can either be deboarded from the train or face a fine of Rs 500 and six months imprisonment.
  • If caught smoking cigarette or beedi in the train, a fine of Rs 200 will be imposed.
  • According to Section 141 of the Indian Railways Act, pulling the chain of a train unnecessarily can lead to a jail term up to 1 year or a fine up to Rs 1,000 or both.
